Cherry Creek Schools Welcomes Educational Leaders from Across the Nation

About 40 superintendents and educational leaders from across the United States and Guatemala traveled to Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) this week to learn more about the district’s nationally recognized programs, innovative career pathways, and commitment to preparing students for the future.
As part of the visit, a student panel at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC) shared their experiences, insights, and perspectives on how CCSD’s unique programs have shaped their education and career goals. The visitors also checked out Traverse Academy, the nation's first mental health facility operated by a school district. It opened more than two years ago and since then, around 150 CCSD students have attended.
AASA's Innovation for Transformation Consortium connects district leaders driving bold change in public education. The program equips participants with transformational leadership strategies, innovative student-centered learning approaches, and cutting-edge STEM education practices.

Through virtual collaboration and in-person visits to districts like Cherry Creek Schools in Colorado, district leaders gain practical tools to create lasting change in their schools and communities. The consortium addresses the urgent need for educational innovation that prepares students for a rapidly evolving future.
“This visit is an incredible opportunity to showcase the innovation happening in Cherry Creek Schools and, more importantly, to amplify the voices of our students,” said Christopher Smith, Superintendent of Cherry Creek Schools. “Our students’ stories are the most powerful testament to the impact of future-focused learning.”
